Vienna Youth Inc. and VYI Cheer are run solely by volunteers. We are in need coaches, assistants, and volunteers wanting to devote time to our program. Each season we try to provide our coaches and assistants with excellent training and resources so they are able to provide our participants with basic to advanced cheerleading skills.
Community Service hours are available to High School & Middle School Students needing credit.
Volunteer Positions: (open positions highlighted)
Commissioner- This is a VYI Board position . Responsible for organizing and maintaining all aspects of the VYI Cheerleading program. Oversees all coordintor and volunteers positions and provides leadership to these roles. Ensures the VYI program is run in an efficient financial matter, the VYI website for cheerleading is maintained as well as attends all meetings necessary for VYI football, Faifax County Cheerleaders Comissioner Commitee and the VYI Board.
Assistant Commissioner - To assist the commissioner with organizing and mainitaining the VYI Cheer program and website, and to attend meetings as necessary for VYI Football, NVFL and VYI Board.
Cheer Coach- Responsible for teaching basic cheerleading skills from motions to basic stunting for a cheer squad. Ability to create routines or gymnastic experiences is helpful but not necessary. Must be at least 18 years of age and must be able to attend all practices and games. Training is provided to all new and returning coaches.
Assistant Cheer Coach - Assists Cheer Coach with teaching basic cheerleading skills from motions to basic stunting for a cheer squad. Must be able to attend practices and games. Previous cheerleading experience is helpful, although training is available. Minimum age is 16 or approval by Cheer Commissioner.
Squad Parents – Attend practices and games to assist coach(es) as needed. Set-up and maintain squad Shutterfly account. Organize snack schedule, end-of-season party, and coach gifts. Delegate tasks to other parents!
